Oranjestad By Rooftop

From my urban planning background, I've always been interested in the relationship between competitive tourism destinations and quality built environments.  And having lived in Charleston's Harleston Village and Atlanta's Virginia Highland district, I'm drawn to walkable, pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods.  Downtown Oranjestad is currently undergoing a revitalization program that will improve pedestrian accessibility to retail, entertainment, and cultural venues. Amid the casinos, cruiseliners, and cargo ships, the city is emerging as a model for Caribbean urban development.
